IRON LYNX AIMS FOR REBOUND IN FIA WEC SPANISH DEBUT

It will be a world first in Barcelona as the FIA World Endurance Championship visits Spain for the first time. With global turmoil forcing the series to make schedule changes, Iron Lynx will take part in the WEC’s first-ever appearance at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, a venue that normally hosts the European Le Mans Series. The event will be the penultimate of a season that wraps up with the 6 Hours of Monza.

The team has performed well in ELMS at the 4.6-kilometre circuit, one of the world’s most demanding for tyre degradation, an area where the Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 excels. However, heavy rain is forecast for the race, which could throw a complication into the mix, especially as practice and qualifying are expected to run in fully dry conditions.

After a tough outing at Fuji, where the #61 car was taken out of contention at Turn 1, Martin Berry, Rui Andrade and Maxime Martin are determined to fight for a long-overdue podium. Andrade is especially eager for a rebound, having been denied a stint behind the wheel in each of his last three races due to early incidents. Martin, meanwhile, who clinched the Intercontinental GT Challenge title last week at Indianapolis, is looking to cap a stunning season that also included a popular Nürburgring 24 Hours victory.

The #79 trio has shown serious potential. At COTA, Johannes Zelger, Matteo Cressoni and Lin Hodenius claimed their first points finish of the year, and after an ill-fated trip to Japan, the Italian-Dutch line-up is aiming to continue its rise in both pace and consistency.

We’re heading to Barcelona determined to finally show our potential and fight for a long-overdue podium. The last few rounds didn’t go the way we’d hoped, for a variety of reasons, despite the team’s great effort. We think Barcelona is a good opportunity for us, given how well the Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 manages tyre degradation. We need to execute a clean weekend, whatever conditions we face and whatever race day throws at us, and I’m confident that will put us in a good window to achieve our goals.
