IRON LYNX CLAIMS POINTS FINISH IN LONE STAR LE MANS RACE

Iron Lynx secured a top-10 finish in the Lone Star Le Mans, finishing round 5 of the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship with a points finish after an up-and-down 6-hour run.
The race started under pouring rain, and a long safety-car situation evolved into a red flag. The race restarted with extreme wet conditions, and both the #60 and the #61 car delivered impressive early runs.
Driving the yellow #60, Andrew Gilbert went up to P4, and a blistering stint by Lorcan Hanafin bolstered the chances for a podium finish. Unfortunately, a small technical issue cost the British racer some time, and when Fran Rueda took the reins for the final stint, a slight contact led to exhaust damage.
In the final pit-stop, the team partly rectified the issue, and that, in addition to a set of slick tyres, helped the Spaniard to make a comeback and clinch P10.
The #61 car had an eventful start to the day. Martin Berry took off well, but had slight contact with the barriers. He came in for repairs just as the red flag waved, and the team managed to accomplish the job in time for the restart.
In the middle part of the race, Lin Hodenius delivered a spectacular stint, making multiple overtakes and getting back into the fight. Unfortunately, the Dutchman made contact with one of the competitors while battling, causing suspension damage and resulting in a DNF.
With great progress in the bag, and having showed good performance in all conditions while also deliviering on execution, Iron Lynx now looks forward to the 6 Hour of Fuji in a weeks time, but will be back on track in a few days for the upcoming ELMS Silverstone event.
It has been a really tricky race, and while the results were not what we had hoped for, we showcased great progress again. We were in the hunt for the podium, and we were able to respond effectively to the obstacles we had to face. Execution by the team was perfect in terms of strategy, pit stops, and operations. Our drivers left a good impression, and especially Andrew made outstanding steps, showing he has mastered the Mercedes-AMG LMGT3. That’s the main takeaway, and we look to continue that kind of effort in the two remaining rounds of the year.
Andrea Piccini – Team Principal & CEO
The end result was not disappointing, but considering the pace we had all weekend, we expected more. We did a good job, all three drivers, and it was a big step compared to Sao Paulo. We were running inside the top-5 before running into a bit of an issue, while I had contact in my stint that damaged an exhaust. From that point on, it was a survival race, but I’m happy to have achieved one point, which is a bit of a sweet reward.
Frand Rueda – Driver, Car #60
We were quick all weekend, and especially when the rain was pouring down, we managed to stay quick and competitive. Then we had the contact. We were both trying to get to the best position, and I just lost it, my mistake. I take it as a learning experience. Still, the pace we had this weekend was positive and encouraging.
Lin Hodenius – Driver, Car #61
In a certain way, we had another positive weekend as we were a bit more competitive than the weekend before. We made a good step and we keep progressing like we did throughout the year. Qualifying was difficult with mixed conditions, but we had a great car for the race. It was an eventful one, but we were competitive, and a good result was possible. In the end, we had to retire, but we will be stronger at Fuji.
