IRON LYNX SET FOR 6 HOURS OF SAO PAULO FIA WEC EVENT

Only a few days have passed since the team’s podium finish in the European Le Mans Series at Imola, and Iron Lynx is ready to get back on track almost 10,000 kilometers away in São Paulo, home to round 4 of the FIA World Endurance Championship at Autódromo José Carlos Pace, Interlagos. A unique destination in motorsport, the venue has a mix of fast, flowing sections and tight, technical corners, with significant elevation changes and tyre degradation. Often seen as an old-school circuit, Interlagos has offered many iconic moments in motorsport history, including championship deciders and emotional moments.

The 6 Hours of São Paulo is held in the Brazilian winter, and conditions are normally variable at this time of year. Rain is expected to impact the weekend, especially the race on Sunday, and teams will be called to react quickly to the conditions, with most of the drivers having little to no experience in the wet on this circuit. Reading the situation and adapting quickly is expected to be the name of the game.

The team is looking to bounce back from its tough luck at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The #61 crew of Martin Berry, Rui Andrade and Maxime Martin saw their run at the classic race jeopardized by early contact and then stopped by a mechanical issue. On the same track where it achieved great pace last year, the team is looking to carry its full potential to the finish. Johannes Zelger, Matteo Cressoni and Lin Hodenius have also faced hard luck so far, and are aiming to put their potential together, stay out of trouble and execute in order to finally deliver their maiden points finish of the year.

The pair of Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 cars is expected to be competitive in Brazil, and at the same place that sparked a comeback in performance last year, Iron Lynx will go for another high-profile run.

We feel confident we can achieve positive results in Interlagos, a track that suits our car well and where we had pace last year. Even if there won’t be double stints on tyres, we will still have long stints, and we know that tyre management is one of our core strengths. In addition, Martin was really strong last year and we expect the #61 car to fight at the front. On the other hand, Johannes has also proved to be quite adaptable, and there is no reason why the #79 crew cannot battle their way within the points zone. There might be rain coming for the race, another situation where the Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 seems to excel, so we are looking forward to the weekend unfolding and to seeing where we will end up.
