IRON LYNX X TRIVELLATO LINES UP FOR MONZA GT SPRINT FINALE
Coming from extremely successful debut run at Imola, Iron Lynx X Trivellato returns to the Italian Gran Turismo Championship this weekend for the season finale at Monza.
Unlike at Imola, the closing round of the year will be part of the Sprint Series, featuring two 50-minute plus one lap races with one driver change each. The partnership between the Iron Lynx team and Italy’s top Mercedes-Benz dealer will once again rely on the pairing of Lin Hodenius and Jean-Luc D’Auria.
Full time FIA WEC runner Hodenius is back after a brilliant American stint, having recently raced at Indianapolis and Road Atlanta. Even in the USA, the Dutchman has impressed for his speed and was always at the front end of the pack. On the other hand, D’Auria competed in the GT Sprint GTCup series at Imola and ran with the Mercedes-AMG GT3 in a test day at Monza.
For Hodenius, it will be the first time racing with the series’ sprint format, while D’Auria has plenty of experience in that regard between Italian GT and ADAC GT Masters. Nevertheless, the challenges of Monza are well known.
The track requires teams and drivers to find a balance between the high-speed straights and its chicanes of different types. The resulting action is normally aplenty, with slipstreams opening the chance for daring attacks under braking. The field will also be particularly strong with some high-profile additions.
Good weather is expected, although the heavy rainfalls of the previous days might pose some challenges in the early running. With good results achieved at Monza in the past, the team is ready to go.
It’s great to be back in the Gran Turismo championship after we had such a positive experience with Lin and Jean-Luc. They have great potential, but this race will be extremely challenging. Monza is a unique track in terms of setting up and racing the car, and we expect a competitive field with some heavyweight additions. There are many teams in the fight for the championship and everyone will be ultra motivated. We will go on-track with the goal of maximizing our potential and executing a good weekend.
