LAMBORGHINI IRON LYNX SET FOR HOME FIA WEC EVENT AT IMOLA

LAMBORGHINI IRON LYNX SET FOR HOME FIA WEC EVENT AT IMOLA

Lamborghini Iron Lynx will be competing at its home racetrack this weekend as the team lines up for the second round of the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship, the 6 Hours of Imola. The Italian venue, located not far from the team’s headquarters, will return to the World Championship stage providing its unique flair and character.

Coming from a positive debut in the opening round of the season in Qatar, where the brand-new Lamborghini SC63 LMDh racecar completed its first-ever outing without experiencing major issues, Imola will give the team a chance to race in a more familiar environment with the goal of maximising the potential available.

In addition to being one of the toughest of the schedule, with a traditional old-style layout, the 4.9-kilometre Emilia Romagna track is loved by drivers and fans alike for its challenging nature and great history. Sharing driving duties aboard the #63 car will again be Lamborghini Squadra Corse Factory drivers Mirko Bortolotti, Daniil Kvyat, and Edoardo Mortara, who have extensive experience at Imola with different types of machinery. While Bortolotti has already won in GT cars at Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari before, Mortara competed there at the beginning of his career, and Kvyat has very positive memories too from the 2020 Emilia Romagna F1 Grand Prix.

While patience and hard work will still be needed with the programme still facing its early days, the team is highly motivated to compete in front of a friendly crowd, with many interaction opportunities available, and in a legendary place so close to home.

For a team, racing so close to home is always special, and it is also beneficial on the operational side with such a new programme. In addition, Imola has outstanding history and character, it’s an extremely fascinating place. Racing-wise, we have had positive experiences in Qatar and Sebring, but there is still a lot to do and a lot to improve. We look forward to seeing more progress and to continuing the path we started with Mirko, Daniil, and Edoardo.
