OVERALL WIN AND PODIUM PLACES FOR IRON LYNX AT THE PENULTIMATE LAMBORGHINI SUPER TROFEO EUROPE ROUND

Iron Lynx had a successful weekend at Vallelunga in Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe with a race win, podiums for four of the team’s five entries and other promising results in an intense day of racing, as the team looks ahead to the Lamborghini World Finals at the same venue next week.
 
Across the two-day event, the Super Trofeo Europe grids were separated with the Pro and Pro-Am cars in one group and the Am and LC Cup entries in the other. Iron Lynx had representation in all four of the classes across the weekend of great racing.
 
In qualifying on Saturday, there were pole positions for the #78 for Emanuele Colombini and Emanuele Zonzini in Pro-Am, and also for Luciano and Donovan Privitelio in LC Cup. The #10 Pro entry of Rodrigo Testa and Ugo de Wilde had two top-three qualifying spots, and the #89 of Nigel Schoonderwoerd and Yelmur Buurman also secured a top-three spot. The five-strong Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO 2 squad was completed by the #4 of Claude-Yves Gosselin, running solo at this event.

Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe Pro – Pro-Am
 
Race one started promisingly, with the trio of Iron Lynx cars in strong grid positions. The #78 entry of the Emanuele pair had the best run, with Zonzini and Colombini both fighting for the lead throughout, before coming home a really strong second. The #89 raced hard with Schoonderwoerd and Buurman and worked into to fourth position after a time penalty for the car ahead after an earlier fight for a top-three. The #10 was less fortunate, coming home eighth after picking up damage on the opening lap.
 
Ugo started the second race high up the grid and worked into the Pro lead by the end of the first lap, with a Pro-Am car in the overall lead. He was able to open a small advantage to the group of cars behind, before handing over to Rodrigo. In the final minutes, the gap to the next Pro car decreased slightly, but the Portuguese racer was able to hold on for a fine victory, passing the Pro-Am car that had led overall since the start on the final lap in the process. Meanwhile in Pro-Am, the #89 had an incredible race being able to work up from 10th up into second with a superb final couple of laps from Yelmur. The #78 also had a strong recovery drive finishing fifth after some tricky early laps, just a few seconds away from the podium.

Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe Am – LC Cup
 
Beginning the day of action on Sunday in tricky conditions was the Am and LC Cup classes, with the #4 and #8 taking part. The start of the race was relatively calm, with both cars keeping in the mix until the pitstop window. Luciano began the race, before handing over to Donovan in the #8, with the younger Privitelio working his way up the order in the final moments to capture a podium finish. For the #4, some good work in the pitstop window and consistent times netted a ninth-place finish.
 
For race two, Donovan began the race from LC Cup pole but a lengthy early safety car did not play into the #8 car’s favour. Despite that, Donovan opened up the gap that he could before handing over to Luciano. Luciano put in competitive lap times but he lost a couple of positions in the closing stages of the race, but did a strong enough job to round out the podium. In the #4, Claude-Yves did a strong job, racing hard to another solid top-10 result.

The fifth round of Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe has been really positive for us with a great overall victory with Ugo and Rodrigo and four out of five cars taking home at least one trophy.

It is all together a brilliant team result which we are very happy with. Now we are very motivated for the World Finals next week where we will be joined by our friends from Super Trofeo Asia to field total seven Iron Lynx cars.
