CHALLENGING START TO THE FIA WEC SEASON FOR IRON LYNX IN QATAR

Iron Lynx faced a difficult race in the inaugural Qatar 1812km which began the 2024 FIA World Endurance Championship season.

The new season began with an extended endurance race around the Lusail International Circuit. The event marked the debut of the new LMGT3 class, with the #60 and #85 Lamborghini Hurácan GT3 Evo 2 cars prepared for the long contest against a much larger field than in previous years.

Qualifying the #60 car was Claudio Schiavoni, who improved his times with each lap to take 17th, with the #85 driven by Sarah Bovy in sixth after making Hyperpole. Ex-F1 driver Daniil Kvyat took the #63 to 18th.

Claudio, Sarah and Daniil all took the start of the race, which began the eight-round FIA WEC calendar across the globe.

The #60 car kept out of trouble in the early part of the race, with Claudio putting in his drive time relatively early into the long event. He did a good job to keep the Hurácan GT3 Evo 2 in the first half before handing over to Matteo Cressoni.

Franck Perera made his FIA WEC debut in the yellow car and set some good lap times during his running. Matteo took the wheel for a long time in the race, completing over three and a half hours of solid running.

As the race continued, the Hurácan GT3 Evo 2 ran without major issue and steadily climbed up the order as others hit trouble.

Through hard work from the team and controlled driving from the trio, the team was able to finish in 12th, a couple of places outside of the points.

The Iron Dames finished their race solidly in the points with a good drive from the trio. You can find out more about their race here.

On its debut, the Lamborghini SC63 finished the gruelling endurance race and took the chequered flag. Its race can be found here.
