IRON LYNX BACK TO SPA AS ELMS RETURNS TO ACTION
The summer break is over and the action is already back underway for Iron Lynx, as the team’s European Le Mans Series operation returns to Spa-Francorchamps.
Fresh from a podium in their home race at Imola, the #62 Team Qatar by Iron Lynx crew of Abdulla Al-Khelaifi, Julian Hanses and Maxime Martin arrive at a circuit where all three have delivered outstanding results in the past. For Martin, it is an eagerly anticipated home event in Belgium, and the Mercedes-AMG Performance Driver is expected to be a fan favourite. Keeping the momentum going will be essential, and the potential in the #62 car has been there from the word go this year. In qualifying or race trim, the goal is to maintain that pace and improve on fourth place in the points standings.
The #63 car of Ameerh Naran, Rui Andrade and Sérgio Sette Câmara enjoyed a strong start to 2026, with a run of points finishes halted only by contact in the previous round at Imola. To warm up the weekend in local style, Sette Câmara and the #63 car featured in an exclusive night-time photo shoot at the popular “Friterie Chantal” in Malmedy.
The weather (and how quickly the teams adapt to it) will be a key variable, as always at Spa, with highly unpredictable forecasts pointing to very different conditions and temperatures across the weekend. After experiencing 30-plus degrees Celsius at home in Italy, the team has already faced heavy rain, and a maximum of 16 degrees is expected on race day.
I think it’s safe to say we know where we are and that we are fully prepared for this weekend. The #62 crew had winning potential at Imola and we expect that to continue, while the #63 trio delivered solid performances and were especially impressive before being taken out last time out. So it’s up to us to keep the pace and execute well in every session, to perform here and fight back in the championship.
