IRON LYNX SIGNS OFF 2025 ELMS SEASON WITH POLE, SOLID FINISHES

IRON LYNX SIGNS OFF 2025 ELMS SEASON WITH POLE, SOLID FINISHES

Iron Lynx wrapped up the 2025 European Le Mans Series season with a double points finish with its LMP2 and LMGT3 operations.

The #63 Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 had a strong start and stayed in the top-5 with Martin Berry in the tight opening stints. The Singapore-based driver managed multiple restart situations and maximized the car’s potential after seeing another possible pole run thwarted by a red flag in qualifying.

Lorcan Hanafin made steady gains with a brilliant pace, making up one spot and going back to potential podium contention. In the final stint, Mercedes-AMG Performance Driver Fabian Schiller got one additional position, moving up to P4, which he held onto until the finish. With two podiums and a points finish in the bag, the team signed off on an extremely promising yet unlucky season, jeopardized by three DNFs and a few external circumstances.

The #9 Oreca 07 LMP2 had a blistering weekend start by leading in FP and cruising to pole position. Matteo Cairoli posted a stunning lap in qualifying to capture his and the team’s first overall pole this season. In the early stages, Jonas Ried had a consistent run despite being involved in an early incident, while Cairoli went to the attack in the middle stint. Maceo Capietto eventually finished in P7.

The team will stay in Portimao for the traditional post-season test. The Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 will be driven by two of the team’s FIA WEC drivers, Andrew Gilbert and Fran Rueda, who will work to prepare for the series finale at Bahrain International Circuit.

Iron Lynx will also be competing in the Italian Gran Turismo next week, fielding a Mercedes-AMG GT3 for Jean Luc D’Auria and Lin Hodenius under the Iron Lynx X Trivellato banner at Monza.

I think we finished the season with a positive race today. Everyone did a good job with zero mistakes and good driving, a decent setup, great pitstops. The new programme with the Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 has come together quite nicely with remarkable improvement from the start of the season. We didn’t put everything together. We didn’t win the championship but we showed great potential and speed. We wrap up the 2025 season here, and we will try to pick up from the same place and become a winning team next year.

Sadly, the season is coming to an end. It wasn’t the season we wanted, but we had a lot of potential and learnings that we can take as positives. We almost ended on the podium for the last race with P4, which showed out continuous progress. Big thanks to the team, Lorcan and Fabi. It was a fun season nonetheless, and I learned a lot.

It has been a difficult one. It was a great debut for the team with the Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 and I’m really proud of that. We had two podiums, three DNFs. The only mistake we made was the contact in Imola, and apart from that, the team and drivers have been flawless. Sometimes things just don’t come together, we’ll get them again next time.

Lorcan Hanafin – Driver, car #63

Final race of the 2025 ELMS Championship done. My last race in Europe for 2025, and we finished P4. We came to fight for the win, but we lacked a little bit of pace compared to the competition and couldn’t get it. Nonetheless, it’s been a fun first season with Iron Lynx. We made a lot of progress for the first year of the Mercedes-AMG LMGT3 and did a decent job in the ACO championships. Looking forward to what will come in the future.

Fabian Schiller – Driver, car #63

We have been quick all season but never brought it home, like happened today. We were impacted by things out of our control, as I was involved in a collision between other cars, which I couldn’t avoid. We were always on the pace, always at the front, but just wasn’t meant to be.

Jonas Ried – Driver, car #9
